Hemkund Sahib (also spelled Hemkunt), formally known as Gurudwara Shri Hemkund Sahib Ji, is a Sikh place of worship and pilgrimage site in Chamoli district, Uttarakhand, India. It is devoted to Guru Gobind Singh (1666–1708), the tenth Sikh Guru, and finds mention in Dasam Granth. With its setting of a glacial lake surrounded by seven mountain peaks, each adorned by a Nishan Sahib on its cliff, it is according to the Survey of India located in the Garhwal Himalaya at an elevation of 4,160 meters (13,650 feet). It is approached from Govindghat on the Rishikesh-Badrinath highway. The main town near Gobindghat is Joshimath. The altitude of the lake at Hemkund is approximately 13,650 feet.
Kedarnath: Nestled within the stunning Mandakini Valley and surrounded by towering peaks, the majestic Kedarnath Temple is perched atop a glacial terrace that was once a glacier that has long since melted. This area is a living testament to Lord Shiv's exploits and adventures. It is his territory. After an exciting chase over the Himalayas, the Pandavs, the protagonists of the Mahabharata, are said to have built the temple as a tribute to Lord Shiv, who is said to have forgiven them for their fratricide. The goal of traveling to Kedarnath, the most important of the 12 Jyotirlings spread around India, is to relive these age-old myths and legends and to unite with God.
Badrinath: It is said that the shrine in Badrinath is as old as time itself. As part of his effort to revive Hinduism in the eighth century, Adi Shankaracharya restored this temple, which is dedicated to Lord Vishnu. The temple and the many historic sites nearby, which are situated on the banks of the Rishi Ganga (alaknanda), are definitely worthy objectives. There are significant ascents during the final 11 km up to Badrinath. The entire Badrinath valley is visible from Devdarshni - the township, the stunning temple façade, the twin peaks Narayan and Nar, which seem to be watching over each other, and the Neelkanth, which is radiant like a crown on its head! and you can sense the spiritual elevation that such a spectacular location generates right away.
